What is the F1 in Schools Challenge?
This exciting initiative is an international competition for 9-19 year olds. Teams of up to six follow the same processes that real Formula One teams follow – from their initial business plan through to manufacturing a car. They use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, data analysis using Computational Fluid Dynamics and drag calculation software and Computerised Numerical Control (CNC) machinery to manufacture their car. Finally, they race their car on a 20m race track to see who has designed and manufactured the fastest car.
Teams must obtain sponsorship to pay for the car. Our team has already gained some sponsorship which has helped us achieve success in the Regional Final and thus we are moving forward to the National Finals at Silverstone. (We would always welcome additional sponsors or any advice from those who could help us improve our project.)
We also promote our sponsors and advertise F1 in Schools (just like in any kind of motor racing). For that reason we have set up this website and a Facebook page that links our sponsors and connects us to the general public. To attract visitors to our page we regular post photos and up to date news. We are also currently running a competition to find a catchy strapline to go with our team name. By doing this we hope to attract others to visit our Facebook page and website and thus increase coverage for our sponsors and project.
